A windscreen chip can turn into a much larger crack at any time; as well as weakening the screen it can also be an MOT failure — if it’s in your line of vision it only has to be bigger than 10mm for the windscreen to fail the MOT test. The windscreen replacement insurance excess can be costly and many insurance companies are now charging an excess for a windscreen chip repair; and remember that a caravan windscreen breakage normally means a full claim and excess.
